These Window Sash Balances replace single or double hung window balances with a stamped number. Before ordering, make sure the length and stamped numbers on the channel being replaced match the length and stamped numbers listed below. While these balances are packaged and sold individually, it is our recommendation that both balances in the window be replaced at the same time. This will ensure both spring forces are the same, as the old spring tension will lessen over time. This will restore the sash to a near new condition, and prolong the life of the window. Some sash balances have ‘wings’ on the end caps, and some do not. Balances without wings are compatible with windows that previously had ‘winged’ balances. (Please see photos) Before ordering, make sure the length and stamped numbers on the channel being replaced match the length and stamped numbers listed below. Please note: The length measurement refers to the metal channel only and does not include the plastic parts. (Refer to the product picture or the tab below for clarification.) How to Order The Correct Window Sash Balance Locate the bottom of your balance, look for number and digits (e.g., 1930). The initial two numbers (19) indicate the length, while the subsequent numbers (typically single or double-digit) signify the spring’s strength (3 0r 30). Strength A=1 or 10 B=2 or 20 C=3 or 30 D=4 or 40 E=5 or 50 F=6 or 60 I=9 or 90 19C = Length 19, Spring Strength 30. (order balance 1930) 20-3 = length 20, Spring Strength C (order balance 2030)

The easiest way to determine the handing of your casement window unit is from the INTERIOR (inside) of the home. If you have multiple windows, stand in front of each window in question and locate the locks. The lock location will determine the handing of the unit.
All casement hardware, which includes locks, operators and hinges, are handed based on the lock location when viewed from the interior.
Alternatively, handing can also be determined by the hinge side when viewed from the EXTERIOR.
Examine the product image carefully when ordering. You should be able to see the difference between the left and right-hand side version.
